somebody told me that this is the place where everything's better, everything's safe

My husband, Ethan and myself originally had plans to join my parents and sister in the Florida Keys so that Ethan could guest star on an episode of my dad's TV show. The weather had other plans that put filming on hold for the time being, but we all still took the weekend trip down to Islamorada for some much needed relaxation and family time.

We stayed in a three bedroom house at Pines & Palms Resort on our own little private section of the beach which was made even more perfect by the fact that the weather was so breezy and cool this weekend. We all spent Saturday evening sitting out on the sand and watching the sunset while inhaling the fresh ocean air. A trip to Theater Of The Sea was also a must, as was wading in the water with Ethan as the parrotfish swam around his toes. We did all of the old Islamorada staples, not excluding two trips to Robbie's where Ethan was absolutely mesmerized by the giant tarpon.

It was a bit sad to pack up our things and head home this evening but we left with Ethan's first trip to the Keys under our belt and all of the great memories that came with it. I have so many childhood memories of Islamorada and doing all of the things and seeing all of the places that we did and saw with Ethan. It's an unreal feeling, being able to show your child the parrotfish in the swimming beach at Theater Of The Sea or feed the tarpon at Robbie's as you did so many times as a child. It's comparable to the feeling of signing my child in at the pediatrician for the first time, the flash of panic and excitement and disbelief and an instant flood of love when you realize that this is your child and that is your child's name right there on that line. I feel those same feelings when I watched Ethan stare at the fish swimming around in the blue water with a sense of magic that only children are capable of exuding.

I may admittedly (and ashamedly!) be too exhausted to take off my make-up on more nights than I care to admit to, but I'm never too tired to realize and appreciate how lucky I am to be a part of the greatest family in the world, married to the most fantastic husband in existence and mommy to the most incredible, beautiful, perfect son in the universe.

Babymoon!

My husband and I went on a "babymoon" this weekend. I really like using the term "babymoon" so I've been saying it an obnoxious amount of times. I guess it's like a honeymoon part two or a pre-baby getaway. I wasn't comfortable going too far from my doctors so we went an hour away and stayed from Saturday-Monday (today) at the beautiful Jupiter Beach Resort.

Fun Fact: We initially looked at the Jupiter Beach Resort as a wedding venue but my husband hated the beach and didn't want to get married anywhere near a beach!

I've been with my husband since we were 15. I've been in a pool with him twice and one of those times was when he lost a bet in high school. He wasn't shy about his disgust for the beach and spent trips to the Bahamas and everywhere else over the years locked in the hotel room or pouting on the shore. It wasn't until this very trip that he declared he actually did like the beach all of the sudden. I was torn between utter joy (it's hard to live in South Florida and not go to the beach, you see) and wanting to strangle him a little bit for ten years of agony!

The weather was gorgeous every single day. Our days were full of yummy food, beautiful weather and days on Jupiter Beach, the resort pool (with non-alcoholic pina coladas!) and the Intracoastal at Coral Cove Park. It was the perfect little weekend getaway and while I'm sad it ended, I sure am happy that it happened and we were able to get away for a little bit!

After dealing with being the wife of an accountant during busy season (and my poor husband actually having to work those horrific hours), it was nice to just get away and do a whole lot of relaxing (and eating really, really delicious food -- did I mention that part?).

I love babymoons! It's official! If only all weekends could be this wonderful.

Disney Weekend

This past weekend was a fantastic one!

Victoria from Adventures In Mommyhood invited a bunch of us to stay with her and we had a Disney weekend! I only live 4 hours from Disney World -- and I actually lived in Orlando during college -- but I haven't been in years and years (and years). Disney World was so much more fun than I remember it being this go round, namely because we had so many cute kids with us!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from this weekend on our mom (and mom-to-be) getaway! If you don't already know Victoria or follow her blog, you most definitely should:

I just had to share! The night before Disney, we got the kids matching pajamas. Could you not just die from the cute?

Victoria is expecting just a few days after I am! Our babies-to-be needed a Disney photo, too!

Such a great weekend and such a nice getaway with such awesome people (and cute kids!). I'm now looking so forward to bringing Ethan back for his first Disney trip, complete with his first pair of Mickey ears, too!

Also, keep checking back because I have a special giveaway coming up on Tuesday morning. It's one I'm really excited about so keep on checking back for more updates!
