When it comes to Ethan's respiratory issues, I've tried just about everything -- or so I thought. I've tried every old wives tale and each holistic secret tincture I could possibly stumble upon and yet the idea of dechlorinating Ethan's bath water never occurred to me. When Rainshow'r stepped in to send Ethan and I one of their Crystal Ball Bath Dechlorinators to try, I couldn't wait to use it. We've been using the Crystal Ball in each of Ethan's baths for a few weeks now and I can most definitely detect a difference.
The way the Crystal Ball works is you fill your tub to your desired level and then pull the dechlorinating ball through the water for a minimum of 5-7 minutes. I've tried to devote ten minutes prior to Ethan's bathtime pulling the ball through the water for elongated exposure. The chlorinated water flows through the filling of the ball, causing an electrolytic reaction which causes the two chlorine ions to form a harmless chloride. My hands will oftentimes feel dry after bathing Ethan and I noticed immediately that they didn't after his first bath with the Crystal Ball. Ethan's skin was also extremely soft and moisturized after his bath, not at all dried out from the warm water and harsh chlorine. While I'm unsure of how to possibly comment on the effect of this on Ethan's respiratory issues (and knock on wood may he never have any for some time so I don't have to), I can say that it very obviously removed chlorine from his bathwater and that, well, is just plain awesome.
We got back last night from a nearly week long trip up to Central Florida to relax away Thanksgiving with my family. I made sure to pack our Crystal Ball and tested it out up there in water that is probably even harder and more harsh than ours down here at home. The results were the same: Ethan's skin was just so soft and his water is pure and chlorine free -- as it should be!
It gives me great peace of mind to know that there isn't any lingering chlorine in Ethan's bathwater and really opened my eyes to just how chlorinated bathwater can be, even when you don't realize it. The difference has been astounding. I was really excited to see that Rainshow'r also carries dechlorinating shower heads. The Crystal Ball is safe for infants and children of all ages, as well as pets, and is most definitely a must. When Ethan was a newborn, his skin would get so dry, especially on his face, and it felt as if I was always slathering him with lotion to keep his skin moist. I wish so very much I had a Crystal Ball for Ethan during those newborn days, but I'm still relieved to have it now.
