you know you're a parent when...you get zoo memberships for christmas.

For Christmas, we received a family zoo membership. Actually, the coolest part about this membership plan is that we can bring any guest we want. Let's say my husband is working -- which there is always a high probability of -- and Ethan and I want to go to the zoo. We can bring any of his friends we want, so long as they're under three (free) and their mom will be covered. We went to the zoo for the first time in quite a while during Halloween for Boo At The Zoo and Ethan really loved it. Now that the weather is getting nicer (slowly but surely), it just seemed like the perfect opportunity to spend some more time at the zoo hanging out with all of the animals.

We made our first visit as members today along with one of my best friends. Ethan slept terribly last night (we are in the throws of some pretty stubborn sleep regression at the moment!) and was a little sleepy, but I made the smart decision to bring along the red wagon to keep the peace and the meltdowns at a minimum. Success!

One of my goals for the new year is to be better about taking advantage of all that South Florida has to offer. More trips to the museums, the zoo, parks maybe we haven't been to before. I'm pretty sure this goal will fizzle out once our super hot temperatures return, but for right now it seems like a pretty sweet idea.

  1. I remember the weather always being really nice around this time of year in Florida. It was really chilly but so nice when I visited in February! I would definitely take advantage of the cooler weather. :)

Such a great gift! I can't wait to take our baby back to the zoo when it warms back up.
