a very fonzie halloween

Ethan's first Halloween has come and gone. It feels as though I've been decorating, planning and setting-up forever and then -- just like that -- it's over!

On Sunday afternoon, my husband and Ethan carved the pumpkin. I'm totally guilty of picking out the design, but who doesn't love Hello Kitty?! It seemed like a perfectly cute pumpkin for my perfectly cute pumpkin's first Halloween!

Halloween itself was a great day. Almost as if he was anticipating the busy day to come, Ethan took both his morning and afternoon nap (which, trust me, never happens). We began the day with a special Halloween-themed Mother Goose Time class. All of the children wore their costumes (...okay, I did, too) and it was unbelievably cute!

What was Ethan's costume, you ask?

...Oh, he was The Fonz. Ayyy!

After our class, he took a fantastic nap while I started getting things prepped in the kitchen. I invited my family over for a special Halloween dinner in honor of Ethan's first Halloween. I made turkey stuffed peppers, served a salad in a witches cauldron and made cute little pudding "dirt cups" for dessert. While Ethan couldn't enjoy any of the good food, he sat on his grandpa's lap having a bottle and enjoying our little outdoor picnic.

Ethan mostly helped us hand out candy to all of the children, but right before bedtime we took him trick-or-treating to a few of the neighboring houses. He did a great job and I'm totally not just saying that because my favorite candy bar ended up in his little pumpkin basket.

I think we were all wiped out last night after such a busy but incredibly fun day. I definitely handed my Blackberry out with handfuls of candy to a group of teenagers who were trick-or-treating a bit later on in the evening but I'm thanking my lucky stars they were honest and gave it back! As for the Fonz? He totally gave his first Halloween a thumbs up.
