datevitation customized love coupon books - review and giveaway

I mentioned recently that my wedding anniversary is quickly approaching and that we're making it a point to do something special to remedy the fact we've only had one date night since Ethan came along. When Datevitation e-mailed me about their customizable love coupon books, I jumped at the chance to try one out because, hello, perfect timing! I had heard of Datevitation in the past and always wanted to try out their coupon books because I'm a sucker for anything personalized. What I didn't realize was just how customizable everything was! Sure, there are store-bought coupon books but they're unrealistic and impersonal -- I mean, why am I going to give my husband a date night coupon booklet that includes sky diving, salsa dancing and wine tasting when we'd never want to do any of those things? But with Datevitation, you not only choose the fun date ideas that go into your book, but you can even customize the wording as well to make it as specific as your little heart desires. (And you know I had fun with that feature.)

Unsure of what dates you'd like to include? Well, Datevitation gives you over 350 to choose from -- from thrill-seeking adventures to some a little more on the R-rated side of the spectrum. What's even better is these books are really for every occasion -- and every family member! You can also personalize them to create a date book for your child, choosing things like an arts and crafts project or a trip to the zoo (there are over 200 parent-and-child dates to choose from!). The big focus of Datevitation is to put emphasis on spending quality time with those you love and, really, what's not to love about that? Spending time together as a married couple and not just a couple of worn out parents is something I'm trying to put on the front burner, so I couldn't wait to make my husband an anniversary coupon book. But, really, how cute would this to be to give that special daddy on Father's Day? (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, mommies -- Father's Day is fast approaching!)

I love the way the book comes packaged in an unassuming manilla envelope with the word "surprise!" printed on the front. I chose an anniversary themed cover for the book itself, but there are a whole bunch to choose from for whoever the recipient is and whatever the occasion is!

I customized every last page in that booklet to fit our relationship, which was my favorite Datevitation feature! Every relationship is different and I loved being able to throw a little humor in there that only my husband would find funny. Not that he finds my Roseanne obsession funny, as this particular coupon might imply. (What can I say? I'm useless when Roseanne comes on the air. My husband would probably rather get a root canal without pain meds and slice off his own left foot before having to sit through one episode of Roseanne, so I knew he'd love this coupon. Also, stop hating. Roseanne rules.)

Each coupon comes with an adorably illustrated, full-color illustration to accompany said date. I had a blast going through all of the date night ideas and customizing them all right on down to the name of the restaurant my husband loves to order take-out from that I can't stand. He laughed each time he turned the page while going through his Datevitation book and it really was such a special gift!
