26 Weeks

Today marks 26 weeks (and my apologies about the phone picture but my camera cord is being borrowed at the moment).

It's been a busy week around here after a traveling weekend but a lot of great things have happened! For starters, after more pediatrician interviews I'm excited to say we chose an awesome pediatrician for Ethan! We've also booked our maternity photos for May 22nd (the day before our two year wedding anniversary) and yesterday met with the baker who is doing the baby shower cake. All of these little things here and there make it feel so much more real that Ethan's arrival really isn't too far away now! I'm also over the moon because after a few months of work-induced hell, my husband is tackling Ethan's nursery this weekend. In fact, Ethan's crib was just delivered thirty minutes ago. Too much excitement at once!

As for little Ethan, he's the size of an English Hothouse Cucumber this week...about 14 inches and weighing 1 1/3 pounds. The nerves within his ears are developed more than before which means he gets to be a little yenta in there and listen to my conversations! His inhalation and exhalation skills are becoming top-notch as he practices on small amounts of amniotic fluid. He's practicing for those first gulps of air when he makes his grand arrival. Over the next two to three days, his testicles are also decreasing into his scrotum! (How's that for my first bit of parental embarrassment?)

Ethan's eyes, though still shut, are fully developed now! He can register things like light and sound, which is pretty cool.
